IEEE Workshop Nano-Enabled IoT 2019

CeNSE, IISc Bangalore | 11 – 12 March 2019

The IEEE NC-SC Joint Student Chapter is organising a two-day Workshop on “Nano-Enabled IoT”. The aim of this workshop is to introduce students/professionals to the world of sensor technology and their applications, with a special emphasis on enablement through Nanotechnology.

The workshop will be designed to give an overview of the nanofabrication, sensors, transduction principles, embedded systems, communication, and a big-picture perspective on IoT and the future of smart devices. The two-day workshop will have lectures on theoretical and practical topics delivered by the faculties of IISc. This will be followed by hands-on sessions where the participants will learn to build simple embedded systems using the widely available Arduino platform. The participants will also be exposed to Nanofabrication and characterisation techniques in our own centre, where they will learn about how sensors (pressure sensors, gas sensors, gyroscopes, etc) are fabricated at our centre. The lectures given by our eminent speakers will be of short technical seminar-style talk focusing on a specific area/component of a smart system. The lectures will cover the basics and will be targeted to a wide audience having no prior background. Each talk will be for a duration of 30-40 minutes followed by question and answer session. The dedicated topics for the workshop are:

• The Future – Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Big Data and AI

• Sensing Fundamentals

• Nanofabrication and characterization

• Embedded Systems

• Industrial talk

• Data Acquisitions and Fundamentals of Signal Processing

• Basic Microcontroller Programming

• Communication systems
